One could say that Arthur is a third generation woodworker. His grandfather
was a custom furniture builder in LaPlace Louisiana until his passing.
Arthur and his father built several custom homes in the Dallas area and his fathers home was featured in
the Dallas Morning Newspaper in 1982.
As a career electrician he
never imagined he could carry on a tradition that had been a part of his family for generations. After buying a few woodworking
tools, Arthur decided to build Mary a cutting board.
usual he selected one of the hardest designs there are, a three dimensional, three wood, end grain cutting board, which you
can see on the Arthur's Woodshop page.
Mary asked, why did you
pick one so hard to make? His reply was, "If you can't make a difficult design, then why bother at all".
For Mary's birthday and Valentines gift he took
on one of the hardest challenges a woodworker can, an Elegant Sam Maloof inspired Rocking Chair, hand carved from Cherry with
an oil finish.
You can see it on
his woodworking page and if you're interested, he might be willing to make one for you as well.
